See Stuff and Make Stuff Happen

Man & Rainbow RoadYesterday we talked about creating a vision of success.  Today we are talking about using that vision to achieve business results.  Don’t worry, I’m not going all “airy, fairy, rainbows and butterflies” on you.  As you will see when you read further, you can (ok, being bold here) and SHOULD use visualization to make stuff happen, big and small.

Using your Vision to Achieve Success
Achieving success in the business world does not have to be difficult… if you have the right tools. One of the ways that you can do this is by creating a vision.  Creating a vision gets you where you want to go quicker.  It helps you be more focused and intentional about what you do daily – and that my friend, increases your productivity and gets you better results.

Create a Vision – Big & Small
The first thing to realize is that creating a vision takes more than just coming up with goals. You want to think about who you will be and where you will be when you get “there”. You should be able to see yourself living this life to have a vision that will move you. Sometimes your vision can be where you see yourself at the end of a project or even a sales conversation.  Other times, your vision is BIG & BOLD and is where you see yourself when you are living the life of your dreams.  Your vision must be believable or your mind will reject it.

Let’s face it – you are simply going to get more of what you want when you know what that is.  When you go into a sales conversation and you’ve thought about what results you want and you can see yourself getting them, what is likely to happen?  That’s right, you may actually get it.

Achieving Success
You should start by writing down the characteristics that the future vision for yourself will have and work on implementing and growing these characteristics in your own life. Along with this, you will also find it helpful when faced with decisions to ask yourself what your vision of yourself would do in a particular position. This will help you to grow into the person that you want to be.  WOW, can you imagine yourself doing that?  What will happen when you do?

By thinking about the end goal in everything you do, you will find that it is easier to achieve, and will be more clear as you progress.  It will also help you make big leaps forward.  It’s like trying on a new style of clothes.  You will get more and more comfortable as time goes on.

Have ideas of your own on vision and how to achieve success? Have questions ? I’m really curious about what you think about stepping into your future self and making decisions from that place.  Please share your thoughts with me by commenting on the blog.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Kim

  1. Hi Kim, some great advice there.

Totally agree, having a vision is one of the key things to have in this business.

Have you ever heard of a ‘Vision Board’?

Something I did, before we decorated the house and moved everything into the garage, was to have a board in the second bedroom/office with a picture of the house we want (well what the wife wants!) and the car that I want!

You could of course stick whatever you want on a vision board but this helped us both to re-visit our vision whenever we were working.

    Seemed to work for us.

Great blog by the way, look forward to reading more great stuff.

    Cheers

    Jon

  2. Kim, your article on having a vision is very interesting to me. I’ve always known that a vision for my success, was really important. Now, I know for sure!! This is a great article, and I’m looking forward to visiting again real soon for more great info.
I will put your suggestions in motion for myself!

    Thanks
    Alonzo

  3. Hi Kim, I love this post, its sooo true. Visualization is vital in keeping yourself motivated, and keeping you driven in achieving your goals. Its also fun and exciting to picture yourself in that situation you really want to be in. Athletes often comment on how they visualize themselves winning in which ever event they are competing, so there is definitely something in it!
    Good Luck 🙂

    1. Vic:

I agree. There was a study done out of the University of Chicago where one group of basketball players practiced free throws, one group visualized making free throws and another did nothing. The group that practiced and the group that visualized without practicing got the same results.

I also agree that it is fun and exciting to see yourself where you want to be.

Let’s keep up the good work!

      Kim
